Solar Federal Tax Credit
The federal solar tax credit, also known as the investment tax credit (ITC), is a 30 percent tax credit for solar energy systems on residential and commercial properties that remains in effect through December 31, 2016. This is seen as one of the most important incentives accelerating the growth of solar energy across the country.
The commercial and residential ITC are credits equal to 30 percent of the basis that is invested in eligible property that is placed in service before Dec. 31, 2016. After that date, the residential solar tax credit will become zero and the commercial solar tax credit will drop to 10 percent, unless Congress decides to extend the deadline or make changes.
The federal investment tax credit for solar projects has been extended until the end of 2019! Learn more about how these ITC changes can benefit you.
